CYCLING

Welcome to Kansanshi Cycling!

About the team

The Kansanshi athletics team started in 2014, and athletics in our schools began in 2023. Athletes are chosen through trials, based on their performance, physical ability, commitment and potential.

The team is working towards better individual and team results, new personal records and medals, and a place at district, provincial and national competitions

Welcome to Kansanshi Athletics! I started coaching in schools in 2023, at Kimasala School, and in 2025 I took on the Kansanshi athletics team.

Our athletes are talented, disciplined and hard-working, and they share a real passion for their sport. Every one of them earned their place through trials, with their performance, commitment and potential.

Together, we are working to improve as individuals and as a team, break personal records, win medals, and represent Kansanshi at district, provincial and national competitions.

Athletics in our schools only started in 2023, so a new group of young athletes is just getting going. If you love to run, come and join us.

– Coach Gift Luyanga

Three things to check before it goes live:

  • Zambezi Cycle Challenge 2026: the report doesn't say which riders came 2nd. Davies, Levy and Luwi were the ones who went.

  • Trail Weekend 2025: the sponsor letter says Mathews Mazabuka won both cycling and running, but the report only lists cycling for him. I went with the report.

  • Anita Yama 2019: the presentation doesn't give her result, so I only said she raced.
